Protoceratops and Velociraptor

Description

Based on the famous "fighting dinosaurs" fossil, where Protoceratops andrewsi and Velociraptor mongoliensis have been found clinging together, seemingly in mortal combat.

In my own interpretation of this famous fossil a young adult Protoceratops has been separated from the herd by a pack of Velociraptors. The fighting dinosaurs fossil shows very clear how these predators hunted. The large sickle claw of Velociraptor is deeply imbedded in what seems to be the windpipe or a major artery in the throat. But even a young Protoceratops is not an easy catch and the struggling prey topples the Velociraptor of balance, grabbing its right forearm in a lock tide grip with its mouth. A second Velociraptor is seen attacking according to the Raptor Prey Restraint (RPR) model, using the feathers on its arms to stay in balance while on top of its prey (this is also seen today in modern day raptors, hence RPR). Two Kryptobataar dashzevegi (an extinct genus of multituberculata manmals) are seen curiously watching the battle. But than disaster strikes. A sandstorm comes up. The other Velociraptors manage to escape but the one unfortunate Velociraptor is stuck under the weight of the body of the dying Protoceratops and is unable to escape. This way both get buried under the sand and so get immortalized in their death pose.

UPDATE: Decided to finally update this piece after I had received some feedback about the feathers not extending from the second digit. So here's an improved version of this work. Hope you all like it.
